Abstract:

The research aims to standardize the Social Rejection Scale for students in Colleges and Departments of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. It also seeks to establish criteria for the Social Rejection Scale on the research sample, identify the level of social rejection among the sample participants, and identify differences among them based on gender (male-female), academic year, and sports interests. In the current research procedures, the descriptive method was adopted. The research population consisted of students from the College and Departments of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in the universities of Nineveh Governorate for the academic year (2023/2024), totaling 1,758 male and female students. They were distributed across one college and three departments. The research sample included 607 students. To achieve the main objective of the research, which is the standardization of the Social Rejection Scale, the researchers used the Social Rejection Scale developed by Jobe (2003). For data analysis and results processing, the researchers employed Pearson’s correlation coefficient, the t-test for correlation significance, Cronbach’s alpha formula, and the t-test for a single sample and two independent samples. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for this analysis. The following results were obtained: the research sample had below-average expectations of social rejection. There are no significant differences were found among the sample participants based on gender (Male-female). Students, regardless of their academic year, expressed similar levels of social rejection. Likewise, students, regardless of their sports interests, expressed similar levels of social rejection. Based on these findings, the researchers provided several recommendations.
