Abstract:

Internet of Things (IoT) is considered one of the most important communication technologies that use internet connection nowadays. Due to this significance, its devices have become more vulnerable to a range of risks related to security and privacy. This paper explains the introduction, applications, and cybersecurity architectures of IoT. In addition, the risks and the attacks that can be exposed to the IoT are presented. Due to the importance of protecting users’ information from espionage and theft, the information is encrypted before it is sent via the Internet. This paper explained the concept of encryption and some algorithms in symmetric and asymmetric encryption. These algorithms include Rivest Shamir Adleman (RSA) as an example of asymmetric algorithms, Data Encryption Standard (DES), and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) as an example of symmetric algorithms.
